Greater again named Building Society of the Year 2011
The Greater Building Society has again been named Australia’s Building Society of the Year. The Greater took out the award at the Australian Banking and Finance Awards on Thursday 9 June.
Greater chief executive officer Don Magin said he had a dedicated family of staff and a global comedian to thank for the award.
Mr Magin said the Greater has this year achieved an increase in market share of around 35 percent, much higher than the gains made by mutual building societies and credit unions as a whole.
“Thanks to the hard work of my 700 staff and Jerry Seinfeld, the Greater is succeeding in its mission to be a viable alternative to the major banks to offer real competition for consumers,” Mr Magin said.
“We have worked hard to improve our product offering while maintaining our focus on delivering very competitive rates, low fees and outstanding service to members".
"I want the Greater to be the best, most customer focused financial institution in Australia” he said.
Building Society of the Year 2010
We have been named Building Society of the Year in both the 2010 AFR Smart Investor Blue Ribbon Awards and the Mozo People’s Choice Awards.
The AFR Awards are the financial industry’s premier awards. They are the most comprehensive, independent evaluation of Banking, Insurance and Investment products in the market and are judged in conjunction with research houses InfoChoice, Morningstar and Rice Warner Actuaries.
The Mozo Awards are equally as prestigious as they are voted on “by the people for the people” and truly represent the voice of the consumer. More than 23,000 Australians participated by rating their financial institution on www.mozo.com.au over the past 12 months across six criteria: overall satisfaction, price, features, customer service, convenience and trust.
These awards are not only a reflection of the fantastic products and services the Greater has on offer to its customers, but the extent to which it is a leader in the financial services industry.
Basic Home Loan of the Year 2010
The Greater continues to offer a genuine alternative to the banks, being named winner of the Basic Home Loan of the Year at the 2010 AFR Smart Investor Blue Ribbon Awards. We were also one of only three finalists from across all Australian financial institutions for the Variable Rate Home Loan of the Year and Fixed Rate Home Loan of the Year awards.
Top 5 Home Loan Award 2010
Our market leading home loans continue to be recognised, with the Greater taking out a Top 5 Home Loan Award at the 2010 Mozo People’s Choice Awards. This award recognises Greater as a Top 5 provider of home loans nationally, and is across the home loan portfolio rather than being product specific.
