Youth and Experience for the Greater's New Branch at Nerang

Date: 17/07/2006

Josh Swetnam has youth and experience on his side as he takes on the role of manager of the Greater's new Gold Coast branch at Nerang, which opens on July 24.

Mr Swetnam says he is excited about being part of the Greater's rapid expansion into South East Queensland. The Nerang branch is the Greater's 65th and its sixth on the Gold Coast. It is the third branch to open on the Gold Coast in the past 12 months.

The branch is located in the new extension to Centro Nerang. Five people will work in the new branch.

In 2005, at the age of 25, Mr Swetnam became one of the Greater's youngest ever branch managers. He started with the Greater straight out of high school, seven years ago, after being selected to be part of its annual trainee program. After winning the Trainee of the Year Award for his performance in the Certificate III course in Financial Services, he worked part time while completing a business degree at The University of Newcastle.

Mr Swetnam and his partner Kate Pedder, who also works for the Greater, have relocated to the Gold Coast from Newcastle in NSW. Ms Pedder is assistant manager at the Greater's Helensvale branch.

A keen surfer, Mr Swetnam says he and Kate are really enjoying the coastal lifestyle that the Gold Coast offers.

The Greater's other Gold Coast branches are at Burleigh Heads, Helensvale, Robina and Tweed Heads. A new branch at Pacific Pines also opened last month. The Greater plans to open more branches as suitable sites become available.

The Greater's trainee program has been operating for 10 years. In 2005 the Greater was selected as one of six finalists in the 2005 Australian HR Awards for Employer of Choice for companies with more than 500 employees.
