Go behind the scenes - Greater’s new Seinfeld commercials

Date: 01/10/2010

People wanting to see how the Greater Building Society’s new series of Jerry Seinfeld commercials were made can now do so by watching a short, behind the scenes video on the Greater’s Youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/GreaterBuildingSoc

Head of marketing John Dwyer says that people will be able to see a suit-clad Seinfeld doing a range of stunts including riding a jetski, riding a dirt-bike, wrestling a crocodile, surfing and hanging from a pulley as he talks to a window washer.

Mr Dwyer says that the commercials, which Seinfeld helped to write, are designed to highlight that the Greater has far superior customer satisfaction levels than the banks.

“Despite the Greater’s impressive 95% customer satisfaction rating, Seinfeld is on a mission to see what he can do to assist those people who are not completely satisfied,” Mr Dwyer says.

“The launch commercial involves a video call between Jerry and Greater management, where Jerry decides he must come “Down Under,” he says.

Viewers of the behind the scenes video will get a sneak peek at some of the other commercials that will air over the next 12 months. Dwyer says ‘once Jerry lands in Australia he goes to great comedic lengths to talk to “everyday” Australians.”

“The Youtube video allows people in other parts of Australia to see some of this classic Seinfeld humour as well as the great fun we had making these commercials.”

The commercials were shot over two days in a studio in New York, near the Brooklyn Bridge using a giant green screen.

Mr Dwyer says Seinfeld went above and beyond the call of duty on this series’ shoot as he did on the shoot of the first series of commercials in 2009.

The launch commercial airs on TV screens and on radio from this Sunday in regional NSW, the Gold Coast and in Townsville.
