The newly created Greater Charitable Foundation has been inundated with 130 applications for its inaugural one million dollar round of funding.
Applications closed on Friday. Applications will be determined by the Foundation’s independent six-member Board led by chairman John Kilpatrick. Successful applicants will be announced on December 7, 2011.
CEO Anne Long said she was delighted with the response and the variety of projects applying for funding from across the Greater’s area of operations (NSW, Townsville and South-east Queensland).
The Foundation funds projects that will make a long term difference to the lives of families and communities in NSW and Queensland. Ms Long said the Foundation will be looking to fund some projects or programs that have an opportunity for the involvement of Greater Building Society staff.
The Greater Building Society launched the Foundation in July, providing an initial allocation of $1 million to be distributed within the first year. The Greater will continue to fund the Foundation on an ongoing basis out of profits.
