The Illawarra’s largest Christmas tree is being installed today thanks to funding and support from Greater Building Society customers and staff.
The Greater is again funding the nine metre Greater/KidzWish Christmas Tree outside the WIN Entertainment Centre.
The tree has 3,500 lights, each one representing the sick, disabled and disadvantaged children that will be attending the 2011 Stockland KidzWish Christmas Party on Thursday 24 November. It will also be the centrepiece of the KidzWish Carols being held on Thursday 15 December.
KidzWish general manager Simon Davie said KidzWish is a self funded organisation, depending completely on the generosity of individuals and organisations like the Greater to help bring a ray of light to special children with significant challenges.
“The Greater Building Society have been a massive supporter of the special children of the Illawarra and for them to provide the funding for this tree on top of everything else they contribute is testament to their commitment to these special children,” Mr Davie said.
Greater Building Society Illawarra regional manager Greg Creagan said the Greater was
pleased to again be funding the installation of the Christmas tree on behalf of its Illawarra
customers and staff.
“The Greater Building Society has been part of the Illawarra community for 30 years and we
always strive to give back to the communities in which we operate,” Mr Creagan said.
“We hope the Greater KidzWish Christmas Tree brings joy to the people of the Illawarra and
is a symbol of the great work being done by KidzWish for some great kids and their families,” he said.
KidzWish supporters, Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW), installed the tree.
