The Greater Building Society is encouraging young people with cerebral palsy that are living in the Hunter and Central Coast to take advantage of a new program to help them become leaders in their workplace and community.
Developed by Cerebral Palsy Alliance (formerly The Spastic Centre), Emerge Young Leaders Program is designed to develop the leadership abilities and work readiness of young adults with cerebral palsy, to develop their confidence and business knowledge.
The 10 month program is aimed at transforming young people from being passive participants in society to active catalysts for positive change in their own community and beyond. Greater Building Society managers will help to coach the young people in regular, facilitated group sessions.
The program is open to people with cerebral palsy aged between 18 and 30 years who want to be a more effective leader ready to take on the challenges of the workplace.
The new program expands on the Greater’s support of Cerebral Palsy Alliance and families of young people with cerebral palsy and related disabilities. It joined with Cerebral Palsy Alliance to start the successful Ignition Mentoring Program in the Hunter three years ago. Under that program, Greater staff have volunteered to mentor 30 young people in the Hunter.
The program is expected to start at the end of March.
