The Greater Building Society has today launched a mobile banking service and made enhancements to its existing iPhone app.
Greater customers are now able to access real time account balances and recent transaction histories, perform account transfers, make third party payments and pay bills using BPay via the Greater’s iPhone app or www.greater.com.au on their smart phone. The service is free.
Chief information officer Bruce White said that the Greater had developed its mobile banking platform in response to customer demand and to ensure that it continues to be a full service alternative to the major banks.
“We want to ensure we are always using technology to offer services that make it more convenient for customers to do their banking with the Greater,” Mr White said.
“We are seeing an increase in people switching from the major banks to the Greater and we want to make sure those new customers can continue to use mobile banking,” he said.
Mr White said the Greater was the first Australian financial institution to introduce a real person “Livechat” service on its website. It was the first Australian building society to launch an iPhone app and to use twitter as a customer communication tool.
“Our use of Livechat, Twitter, iPhone app, and now mobile banking, shows that the Greater can definitely keep up with the big banks and is ahead of some other competitors when it comes to technology.”
He said the Greater’s new mobile banking service was just as secure as its internet banking service with funds covered by the same security features.
Customers must be registered with the Greater’s internet banking service to use the mobile banking service.
The Greater Building Society serves around 250,000 members in NSW, South East Queensland and in Townsville. It has 67 branches and an independently determined customer satisfaction rating of 95 percent. The Greater was named Australia’s Building Society of Year in the most recent Australian Banking and Finance Awards and Mozo People’s Choice Awards.
