Help for Central Coast First Home Buyers

Date: 07/08/2009

What:   First Home Buyers Information Evening
When:  Wednesday September 2, 2009 from 6.30-7.30pm
Where:   Iguanas, 12 Dane Drive, Gosford

A FREE, no obligation, information evening will be held on September 2 at Iguanas at Gosford.
Special guest speakers include Scott McMonigal, managing director of McMonigal Valuations and Central Coast solicitor Geoffrey Morgan-Smith.

Greater Building Society partnerships manager, Steve Goverd, said the forum had been developed following the success of a similar one held in Gorokan in March.

Mr Goverd said that taking the big step to get a loan and purchase a property can be both daunting and confusing.

“This evening is designed to provide people with information and answers to their questions so they feel more confident about the process of buying a property,” Mr Goverd said.

“We will take people through the five steps to purchasing a property.”

The seminars will also provide information on applying for the First Home Owners Grant and other supplementary benefits, the process for obtaining a home loan, budgeting, as well as tips for saving a deposit.

“Substantial Government incentives and low interest rates are providing an ideal opportunity for first time buyers to get into the property market.”

NSW Government (Office of State Revenue) figures show that Gosford (postcode 2250) ranked sixth in the list of top 20 NSW postcodes receiving first home buyer grant assistance last financial year. Residents of that postcode received almost $14million in assistance during the period.

Currently in NSW, up to $14,000 is available to first time buyers of existing homes and up to $24,000 is available to first home buyers who build a new home or purchase a newly constructed home. After 30 September 2009, the benefits will reduce to $10,500 for first home buyers of existing homes and $17,000 for those who build a new home.

Bookings are essential as seats are limited. Email events@greater.com.au or call into any of the  Greater’s seven Central Coast branches to secure a place.
