New branch managers for Lismore and Casino

Bronwyn Chandler starts work today as the Greater Building Society’s new Lismore branch manager.

Ms Chandler’s role is a new one that is focused more on community, business and customer relationships rather than lending and is a first for the award winning building society.

Lismore branch manager Michael Clement remains with the Greater in the new role of mobile lending manager. Ms Chandler is also joined at Lismore by new branch supervisor Jenny Read who has more than 20 years experience in the finance sector.

Vanessa Restall, who was Lismore branch supervisor, has been appointed Casino branch manager, joining new recruit Lynda Atkinson who is the new Casino branch supervisor. Ms Restall and Ms Atkinson are locals who together have more than 25 years experience in financial services and lending.

Regional manger Karen Laws said the new look Lismore and Casino teams will allow the Greater to continue to grow as it takes on the major banks and provides a more competitive alternative for NSW North Coast residents.

She said the creation of the mobile lending manager will allow the Greater to provide more people from Lismore and surrounding areas with the flexibility of seeing a lender outside branch opening hours, including on weekends, in their home or workplace.

“The new Lismore branch manager position will allow the Greater to become more involved in supporting local business and the community and ensure an even higher level of customer service,” Ms Laws said.

Ms Chandler, who lives at Alstonville, is a mother of three with a varied business background. A born and bred “country girl” she has worked in business and marketing her entire career. In the New England North West region she ran a sheep and cattle farm but also worked for NBN Television and has also run her own retail business.

She came to the North Coast four years ago and says she is never going to leave.

The Greater has 67 branches, the largest branch network of any Australian building society, with eight of these branches located on the NSW mid North and North coasts. The Greater opened a branch in Lismore in 1992. Its Strand Arcade (Molesworth Street) branch is currently staffed by eight local people. The Walker Street Casino branch opened in 1982 and is staffed by a team of seven.

The Greater Building Society offers a complete range of financial services to 250,000 members across NSW, South east Queensland and in Townsville. It has been named Australia’s Building Society of the Year in the most recent Australian Banking and Finance Awards, AFR Smart Investor Blue Ribbon Awards and Mozo People’s Choice Awards. At the AFR Awards it also took out the Basic Home Loan of the Year Award.
