The Greater Building Society’s staff are today mourning the sudden passing of Orange Branch Manager Robert (Bob) Farrimond this morning. Bob was a man of the highest integrity and was held in the highest possible regard by all of his colleagues.
Greater Building Society CEO Don Magin said Bob’s death was a devastating shock and that he will be terribly missed by the Greater’s family of staff as well as by his customers.
Mr Magin said Bob was an outstanding member of the Orange community. Bob was born in and went to school in Orange. He returned to Orange in 1997 to be the branch manager of Mitchell Building Society. When it merged with the Greater in 1998, Bob continued as manager.
“Bob was a true gentleman who has faithfully served the Greater and the community,” Mr Magin said.
“He helped a lot of people in Orange at significant times in their life and he genuinely cared about helping them to better manage their money or to get the home of their dreams,” he said.
“We are doing all we can to help Bob’s family and our staff to come to grips with this sudden tragedy. ”
Regional Manager Colin Hope recalls that “the decision to hire Bob was one of the easiest decisions of my career.”
“Bob’s success with the Greater was built on his exceptional work ethic, his product knowledge, and his ability to build a happy, reliable, customer-focussed team of staff to support him,” Mr Hope said.
Mr Hope thanked those customers who had sent tributes and condolences to the branch and via the Greater’s website.
Bob loved his golf and was a very knowledgeable, well credentialed collector of model cars.
Vale Bob, your friends at the Greater will miss you.
