How to Avoid Transaction Fees
Here are some handy hints to help you avoid transaction fees:
No one likes to pay transaction fees. The Greater prides itself on minimising the fees it charges Members. Here are some tips on avoiding the fees and charges that we do have:
- Wherever possible use Greater ATMs. Other Financial Institutions charge MUCH MORE in transaction fees if you use their ATMs.
- EFTPOS is a great alternative to withdrawing cash - when you make an EFTPOS purchase say “YES” to extra cash out. This withdrawal will count as one transaction, rather than two!
- Press credit when using your Greater Visa Debit Card for a purchase transaction on an EFTPOS terminal. There are no transaction fees on these purchases. Some merchants may not permit the “Credit” option on Visa Cards that perform only debit transaction.
- Plan your transactions each week to reduce the frequency of your withdrawals – instead of making small, frequent withdrawals, plan fewer, larger withdrawals.
- Instead of asking for a balance of your account before you make an ATM transaction, request a receipt during the transaction to confirm your balance.
