Regular Payments

What is a "regular" payment?

You can use your credit card to make a recurring payment or an instalment payment (regular payment). You (the cardholder) can authorise a merchant to bill your visa card account at agreed times eg monthly or quarterly. The amount may differ or be the same for each transaction.

For example, you may ask your local gymnasium to charge your gym membership to your card each month or you may have purchased a new television and get billed by the merchant in a number of payments.

Regular payments can save you time and money.

Customer Responsibilities and Obligations

Regular payment arrangements are an agreement between you (the Visa cardholder) and the merchant.

  1. Keep a record of all regular payment arrangements you have established with your merchant and store in a safe place. A template for recording your regular payment arrangements is available from Australian Payments Clearing Association website, www.apca.com.au.
  2. You are responsible for notifying the merchant when your account details change, including any change to your card number and/or card expiry date. We are required to process transactions from a merchant until you notify them of any changes. We recommend you keep a copy of any changes as this correspondence will be required if your merchant does not comply with your request in a timely manner and you decide to dispute any incorrectly charged regular payments.

Customer Rights to Dispute

Contact your merchant directly if you have any issues with your regular payments, including failure of the merchant to act on a change in account details advice. If this does not resolve your issue then please contact us for more information.
