Destinations

Where am I able to go on my holiday?

Greater Getaways holidays are located throughout Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Asia and Hawaii as well as Cruising options. The largest number of holidays are located in New South Wales and Queensland.

What about transport to and from my holiday destination?

The journey to and from each property is your responsibility, including the cost. Some island properties may offer a transfer service, and if this is offered it will be indicated in the package description. Airfares are not included in domestic or international packages, unless indicated, but they can be purchased separately through your Greater Getaways Travel Consultant according to the best rates in the market at time of booking. In the case of special "Hot Offers" advertised on the website, airfares may be included so check for any package inclusions.

Can I use my rewards points for airfares or car hire?

Yes, you may redeem your Triangle Reward Points for airfares to your destination, or for car hire. Indicative rates (in Triangle Reward Points) are included in the Directory for Hertz car hire and Britz campervan hire. Flights are based on the best available fares at the time of booking. Ask your Greater Getaways Travel Consultant, who can give you the rates applicable at the time of your travel.

What if I want to travel to a particular destination where there aren't any Greater Getaways holidays?

Please let us know and we will make an effort to find and register properties in areas suggested by our customers for next year's Greater Getaways program.


Guest Information

How should I make a booking or booking enquiry?

After your loan is advanced you will receive a confirmation letter from the Greater Building Society containing an access code along with the number of Triangles that you have earned. To book or enquire about your holiday, please call Greater Getaways on 1300 656 556 or email Greater Getaways via the website.

Alternatively you can fax or post a Greater Getaways booking form. For full details go to the HOW TO BOOK section.

Do I have to arrive and depart my accommodation at a certain time?

Normally, check-in is at 2pm and check-out is 10am, but this can vary with each property. Please confirm with your Greater Getaways Travel Consultant at the time of booking.

How do I know what kind of room I will be given?

The room type(s) available with each Greater Getaways holiday is indicated in the Directory and appears on the travel documentation that you receive prior to travel. If you require particular facilities, then it is important to request them at the time of booking.

A bedding description is provided for your convenience in the Directory. These are indicative of the properties bedding available in the room types featured in the program. Whilst all care is taken to ensure these are correct, a property may vary the bedding provided.

The facilities available for each property are indicated by symbols included with the property description. Please note that not all rooms at a particular property may include each of the facilities indicated by the symbols. If you require a particular facility, it is important that you advise your Greater Getaways Travel Consultant at the time of making your booking.

Room upgrades are available. Our Travel Consultants will be able to advise additional charges.

What about children or facilities for any other special needs?

Children are accepted at most, but not all properties. Details of charges are included under the accommodation description in this Directory and on the Greater Getaways website.

Generally, subject to hotel policies, where children are noted as free of charge it is in existing bedding. However, this may mean that children may be sharing existing bedding (such as a double bed).

Please communicate your exact requirements with the Greater Getaways Travel Consultant at the time of booking to ensure appropriate bedding configurations are booked and additional costs for additional bedding as required are confirmed.

What if I am travelling alone?

Single travellers can take advantage of the program. The prices for single accommodation are included in the price boxes.

What if I want to make a booking beyond 31 March 2009 and the new Directory has not come out yet?

To enable us to offer quality accommodation at the best possible rates, we need to negotiate a 12-month agreement with each of the properties included in the Directory. This 12-month agreement expires on 31 March each year. If these negotiations have not been finalised for the new Directory, we may not be able to provide you with information as to whether the property will feature in the new Directory, or the number of Triangle Reward Points required to stay at the property.

Your Greater Getaways Travel Consultant will advise whether it is possible to book your particular holiday in advance of the new Directory being produced. If we are not able to process your request, then your Greater Getaways Travel Consultant will ask you to call back at the beginning of February to make your holiday booking.

Do I need travel insurance?

We strongly suggest all travellers take out appropriate travel insurance before travelling both within Australia and overseas. Our preferred travel insurance partner is Suresave Insurance.

Time Constraint Information

When can I use my Triangles?

You may use your Triangles at any time during their validity, which is 24 months from issue. You have 24 months to book and take your holiday. Please be aware that some properties may be difficult to book during peak periods. We suggest that you plan well in advance for school and public holidays.

When do my Triangles expire?

Triangles are valid for 24 months from the date of issue, but Triangle ratings for individual properties are subject to change during this period. Directories are valid for 12 months, expiring 31 March. If you would like to make a booking ahead of this time, please contact Greater Getaways on telephone 1300 656 556.


Procedures

Must I use all my Triangles at the same time or on the one holiday?

No, you may use your Triangles wherever you like. For example, you could enjoy a two night romantic break in Sydney in Spring, and later in the year a week on the Gold Coast with the family. All accommodation is subject to availability.

Can I combine Triangles where I have more than one allocation?

Yes, if you have borrowed more than once from the Greater with a loan that qualifies for Triangle Reward Points you may have outstanding Triangles to redeem from these multiple allocations. You can combine some, or all, of these Triangles to take a holiday. Where multiple allocations exist, we will use the oldest, outstanding Triangles first until the required number of Triangles have been accumulated for your requested holiday.

Can I transfer my Triangles to someone else?

No, but you can book accommodation using your Triangles on behalf of another guest. For example, you can book a weekend away on behalf of a family member and have the voucher issued in their name. The number of triangles used would be deducted from your account. Simply quote your account details on the booking form or to the Greater Getaways Travel Consultant and then provide the names you would like to appear on the voucher.

What happens once I make a booking request?

In most cases confirmation of your booking will take approximately three working days. Once your accommodation has been confirmed available and booked, vouchers are then produced and posted for presentation at the property when you arrive. If you haven't received your vouchers four working days prior to travel, please contact us on 1300 656 556.

Do I need to pay a deposit to hotels or car hire upon check in?

Upon checking into your accommodation, you may be required (at the discretion of the hotel) to present a credit card for imprint as a form of guarantee. If you do not have a credit card, you may be required to pay a cash deposit to your hotel. These monies are fully refundable upon check out, providing any food/beverage/ amenities accounts have been paid in full. You are required to hold a valid credit card for car and campervan hire. Please ask your Greater Getaways Travel Consultant for full details.

How do I find out more about holiday accommodation?

Each property is featured in the Directory, accompanied by a photograph. Additional property information can be found on the website. There are details regarding the area in which the property is located and the various facilities available, including Child Policy and Room Type.

How do I determine the standard of the accommodation?

Star Ratings are supplied by the properties themselves and are based on the official AAA Star ratings accommodation classification scheme operated by AAA Tourism for motel, apartment and hotel rating guides.

STAR ratings

The AAA Tourism Accommodation Classification Scheme covers a wide range of accommodation and consists of ratings from one to five stars.

Rating Definitions

Definitions of STAR ratings vary depending on the accommodation category. These are outlined below.

Hotel, Motel and Apartment Hotel

3 Stars

Well appointed with a comfortable standard of accommodation: above average furnishings and floor coverings.

4 Stars

Exceptionally well appointed with a high level of facilities: quality furnishings and a high degree of comfort, presentation and guest services provided.

5 Stars

International standard with a high degree of facilities: outstanding appointments, furnishings and decor and an extensive range of first class guest services. A number and variety of room styles and/or suites, choice of dining facilities, 24 hour room service, housekeeping, valet parking, porterage and concierge services.

What if I'm not happy with my accommodation?

We want to be able to continue to offer a wide range of quality accommodation. If you have any concerns, we would like to know about them. The description of the property, including the number of Triangles required to stay per night, should be a guide to the standard of the property and the facilities provided. However, if the accommodation is not to your satisfaction, then we would like to be notified.
