The generosity of Greater Bank and its customers is set of make a huge difference to hundreds of families of children who have been diagnosed with a serious illness that will stay at Ronald McDonald House over the next year.

Greater Bank CEO, Scott Morgan, last week handed over a cheque to Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW for $27,540 that was raised through a campaign the customer-owned bank conducted in the lead up to Christmas.

During December, Greater Bank pledged to donate $20 to Ronald McDonald House for every Life Saver account opened during the month.

In August 2019, Greater Charitable Foundation also announced a funding partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW that allowed them to facilitate the Ronald McDonald Learning Program that helps children with a serious illness return to school by providing them with individualised educational support tailored to suit their specific needs.

Based on the grounds of John Hunter Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald House Newcastle provides accommodation and support for families of children who have been diagnosed with a serious illness or injury.

Ross Bingham, Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW CEO, said the latest contribution provided by Greater Bank will go directly toward supporting the many families that will stay at the house across 2020.

“Greater Bank, as well as Greater Charitable Foundation, has been a wonderful supporter of Ronald McDonald House here in the Hunter for some time and this new contribution will allow us to continue our work to support the families of children who are undergoing treatment at John Hunter Children’s Hospital,” Mr Bingham said.

“As an organisation that relies heavily on the support of the community, we can’t thank Greater Bank enough for this generous support.”

“To put this contribution into context, it will allow us to provide a home-cooked meal after a long day in the hospital for over 1,300 families, clean linen for over 18 months or give up to 200 families a night’s accommodation while their child is sick or injured in hospital." Ross Bingham,

Scott Morgan said that as a customer-owned bank, Greater Bank’s commitment to the communities it serves runs far deeper than simply providing banking solutions.

“We are exceptionally proud of our long history of supporting the communities that support us, which remains an important pillar of our business strategy,” Mr Morgan said.

“Ronald McDonald House provides an incredible service for the many hundreds of families that travel from across our heartland of Northern NSW to Newcastle so their children can undergo treatment for serious illness.

“This campaign was a simple way for Greater Bank and our customers to support this wonderful organisation and allow them to continue their work in supporting people from the many communities that we also support.”

During 2019, Greater Bank provided support to seven major partnerships and a further 41 local area partnerships across NSW and South-East Queensland.
