Updating your browser and operating systems to stay secure

At Greater Bank, we’re always working to keep your accounts secure.

To enhance our security, we’re making some updates on September 1st, 2020. This involves some changes to the browsers and operating systems you can use to access Online Banking.

Why will this enhance security?

Older versions of internet browsers may no longer receive security updates from their developer. To receive these updates and keep your accounts secure, we always recommend ensuring your operating system and browser is the latest version.

What will change?

Access to Online banking will be affected for some of our customers. If you have any of the below browsers or Operating systems, these will no longer be supported by us and you will have to upgrade to newer version.

Operating System

  • Windows XP
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows NT
  • Macintosh 10.8 and below

Browsers

  • IE7
  • Firefox 27 or below
  • Google Chrome 37 or below

Mobile Operating System

  • Android devices running version 4.4.4 or older
  • Windows phone version 8 or below

For your own security, and so you can continue accessing Online banking, please ensure both your operating system and browser are up-to-date.

Checking your browser version

To check what version of Internet Explorer you are running:

  • Visit the ‘settings’ option within your Internet Explorer browser
  • Select ‘About Internet Explorer’
  • View the version number

If you’re running Internet Explorer 10 or earlier, you can update your browser via Microsoft’s webpage. If you’re using an older operating system, it may also need to be upgraded to do so.

Android devices

You can check what version of Android you have and install any available updates by accessing your device’s settings. If you’re currently using an older Android device (e.g. Samsung Galaxy 3) running 4.3, the manufacturer and service provider may no longer support system updates for this model. To continue using mobile banking, you will need to upgrade your device.
