Our Gold Coast Area Manager Nicky Davies shares some of the useful pieces of information Gold Coast residents looking to buy or build a home this year will receive if they come to a free seminar at Helensvale.
The Greater Building Society, in conjunction with Affinity Lawyers and Dixon Homes, is holding a free information evening on Wednesday March 27 for Gold Coast residents looking to buy or build their first home.
The event is being held at The Greater’s branch at Westfield Helensvale from 6-7pm.
First, we’ll take you through the $15,000 First Home Owners’ Construction Grant. The Queensland Government made some cuts to its first home buyers’ scheme last year but there was some good news. It made the scheme more generous for people buying or building new homes. There is some more good news. Under a scheme which has operated since August 2011 all first-home buyers are exempt from stamp duty on homes valued up to $500,000 and for vacant land purchased to build a new home up to a value of $250,000.
You’ll also need to start thinking about the best loan for you. We’ll look at how much of a deposit you will need and give you some great tips on saving for a deposit. We will also take you through the different types of loans available and look at whether fixing your loan is right for you. There are some tips we will share to help you avoid a big trap when it comes to fixing your loan.
Buying or building your first home is exciting but it can also be daunting. We will help you understand some of the legal and contract issues involved in buying properties to make the journey more exciting and less daunting.
This free information evening will give you answers to all your questions about building and financing your first home. And it is absolutely free, and there is no obligation to do anything after you attend.
