Layne Beachley's three word philosophy for business success

Our HR Manager Kristy Bagnall reports on the inspiration she gained from Layne Beachley when she attended the Hunter Business Women's Network conference as one of its emerging leaders for 2013.

Motivation. Inspiration. Determination. These three words are the simple but powerful personal philosophy of Australian icon Layne Beachley. The Hunter Business Women’s Network had the wonderful coup of having Layne address more than 100 local women at the 2013 Regional Women Connect Conference.

Success requires commitment, and Layne spoke about her passion for challenging herself and the years of effort that were required for her to remain focussed on her goal to become the best in the world. Layne was keen to share her secrets to her own personal motivation and success, including her favourite pump up song by Eminem. You get the feeling that Layne has remained true to herself throughout her career and is now motivating other women to pursue their own passions and to aspire to achieve greatness.

Layne spoke passionately about her own motivations, including her development of the Layne Beachley Aim For The Stars Foundation. Layne’s Foundation empowers and enables young women to overcome challenges and adversity to achieve their dreams and career goals. This personally resonated with me as I have the absolute pleasure of representing the Greater Charitable Foundation’s Board, where we fund, assist and support life-changing initiatives which directly support local families and communities with their own challenges.

Layne is a truly inspirational woman and shared her stories with a number of emerging female leaders on the night. Establishing and nurturing a strong sisterhood to help other women to progress, was an important message from Layne on the night, and the Hunter Business Women’s Network certainly supports and facilitates that notion.

Thank you to the HBWN for the amazing opportunity to be presented as an Emerging Leader and for the occasion to be inspired by an amazing woman who makes you believe that you can achieve anything that you aspire too.

[Kristy and her colleague Emma Avery were one of the Emerging Leaders who won the opportunity to attend the conference. Read more here.
