What more can really be said about Los Angeles? One of the most famous cities in the world, it's the home of Hollywood and the center of the movie-making world. Add to that a melting pot of a myriad of ethnicities, beautiful beaches, stunning year-round weather and the laid back west-coast culture and you've got one destination not to miss.

The Greater conducted research into what our customers wanted from a holiday, and we found that the USA is by far the preferred destination for people planning to take a holiday in the next 12 months. And when we found that 20% of our customers said that they are long overdue for a holiday, we decided to start giving away twin return economy airfares to LA when you take out a Great Rate Home loan with us, so you can finally Los Angeles off your bucket list.

Here is my list of the top must-sees while in Los Angeles.

  1. See the Hollywood sights - Hollywood celebrities are never far away in LA. To catch a glimpse of stardust, stroll the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where more than 2,400 figures from the entertainment world are immortalized in pink terrazzo with symbolic gold lettering. If you're a film buff, look out for the famous hand and footprints at Grauman's Chines Theatre.
  2. Hit the stores on Rodeo Drive - Many people dream of being Julia Roberts shopping on Rodeo Drive, but few can afford to buy from the array of high-end designers seen in the film Pretty Woman. So window-shopping is the order of the day.  Waltz along the $200-million ersatz European cobbled walkway Two Rodeo, browsing tourists mingle with serious spenders.
  3. Get a workout in at Venice Beach - Venice Beach has long been known as the kooky Mecca of California, and while it's been getting more than a fair share of mainstream tourists, the area nurtures its eccentric spirit. Skateboarders, radical pamphleteers and body builders: the visibility is great if you enjoy people-watching. Go for lunch at the local cafes before scanning the shelves at the eclectic local stores.
  4. Experience Universal Studios - There are a wealth of activities at Universal Studios thanks to the many amusement park rides, shops, restaurants and theaters. Be sure to take the tram studio tour to experience creatures from Jurassic Park, travel through Dr. Seuss's "Whoville" and be attacked by the shark of Jaws

  5. Take in some culture -

Don’t be fooled by the naysayers who lament that Los Angeles has no culture—the city has attracted some of the most creative minds on the planet and displays great artwork at the LA County Museum of Art. While there, visit the Broad Contemporary Art Museum, the Urban Light outdoor sculpture, and their permanent collection.
