Bringing McGrath Foundation Cancer Care Support to the Upper Hunter

Two McGrath Breast Care Nurses in Newcastle, Helen Moore and Rebecca Chenery, are bringing their cancer care support to the Upper Hunter region.

At the moment, men and women with breast cancer in Maitland, Muswellbrook and the surrounding areas have to travel upwards of two hours in order to see their McGrath Breast Care Nurse in Newcastle. To make life that little bit easier, McGrath Foundation Breast Care Nurses Helen and Bec will set up a free clinic at the East Maitland Community Centre every second Friday and at the Muswellbrook Hospital on the first Monday of every month.

McGrath Breast Care Nurses provide support, education, advice and clinical care at any stage of the breast cancer experience from diagnosis through to what McGrath Foundation call 'survivorship'.

The McGrath Foundation want to make sure as many people with breast cancer are made aware that Bec and Helen are available to provide care at no cost to the patient. It’s such a great service to be able to bring to small communities to simplify people’s experience during what can be an extremely challenging time in their life.

The Greater Charitable Foundation is proud to fund the work of McGrath Breast Care Nurse Helen Moore.

Appointments for this free service can be made by either phoning Rebecca Chenery - 40144752 or Helen Moore – 40144754. Patients don’t need a doctors referral to attend.
