Captain Starlight playing Santa at Tamworth Hospital

Captain Starlight’s rocket ship will look more like Santa’s sleigh when it touches down at Tamworth Hospital on Wednesday, 13 December to spread some Christmas cheer among the sick kids and their families.

The Captain Starlights’ visit has been made possible through Starlight’s partnership with Great Charitable Foundation.

Joining Captain Starlight for the visit will be Greater Bank’s Tamworth Branch Manager, Mitch Balderston.

The visit takes on greater significance for Mitch, who, 19 years ago on the day of the visit, was playing with his sick brother in the Starlight Express Room in The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. This now provides him the opportunity to give back to the organisation that gave him and his family so much during a tough time in all their lives.

Starlight brightens the lives of seriously ill children and their families across Australia, through programs such as Captain Starlight. Captain Starlights are professional performerswho capture the children’s imagination, turning their pain, fear and stress into fun, joy and laughter.

There are more than 150 Captain Starlights that regularly visit children’s hospitals across Australia using their skills in comedy, acting, music and art to entertain seriously ill children.

The Greater Charitable Foundation is funded through the profits of Greater Bank. Since 2012, the Greater Charitable Foundation has provided Starlight with more than $680,000 to visit hospitals in regional NSW and the Gold Coast. This has enabled Captain Starlight to help more than over 17,000 seriously ill kids.
