What

FRRR have received funding for a community impact project that focuses on addressing pressing and persistent social issues facing communities in 10 regional NSW LGA's situated in the Hunter and Mid North Coast regions. The Greater Charitable Foundation is one of more than 8 different funding bodies - representing the State Government and philanthropic sectors - who are collaborating to support these important community initiatives known as Innovation for Community Impact (I4CI).

Why

The I4CI program aims to support innovative and effective responses to issues including domestic and family violence, education disengagement, criminal behaviours, and unemployment. The program also presents a unique opportunity for philanthropy and Government to work together, sharing approaches, practices, and strengthening the ability of smaller grassroots organisations that can't typically access Government grants or larger philanthropic organisations, to receive support.

How

The I4CI program enables individual contributions to be leveraged and multiplied through a collaborative funder model. Through a collective of funders working together, more projects can be supported, greater knowledge sharing can occur between organisations and deeper outcomes can be achieved through bringing combined expertise and place-based knowledge.

FRRR Impact

The I4CI program aims to support initiatives that can become self-sustaining over time. The program helps to address issues of sustainability and over-reliance on grant funding and government contracts.

The approach is underpinned by a belief in the power of the collective over individual or isolated action and by an aspiration for communities to lead the change they wish to see.

Funder Feedback

Another philanthropic funder participating in the program

"Each stakeholder has such different but valuable perspectives to share and the real power of collaboration and opportunity for learning from each other came from the potential of working together."
