Living Smart Festival

Living Smart Festival is one of the largest environmentally focused community events in Australia, raising awareness of environmental issues, fostering a love of the outdoors and inspiring residents to live more sustainably.

The event brings together people from all over the Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and Hunter Region to learn about how they can contribute to build a better community. As a believer in supporting the communities that support us, Greater Bank is proud to sponsor this event which drives positive outcomes for our community.

Save money and the planet!

Our involvement in the event focuses on teaching kids that saving the planet can also save you money. We want to empower kids with the information they need to start helping conserve energy and protecting the environment, while also learning that these behaviours can help their financial sustainability at the same time.

Teaching your kids to be both environmentally and financially responsible is critical in this day and age. Learning to turn the tap off, switching the lights off or turning off the TV when not in use can also help reduce utility bills for mum and dad. Standby mode alone can account for more than 10% of your household electricity use. By adopting positive lifestyle habits, your kids can help conserve energy and save money. (See below for a link to our blog on this topic, which contains a fun printable worksheet for the kids)

There will also be something for the adults: Visit our stall at the festival on Saturday 28 September and opt-out of your Greater Bank paper statements to score yourself something nice.

How do you Live Smart? WIN $500!

Capture yourself ‘Living Smart’ at the Festival and go in the running to win $500, split between yourself and your favourite cause.

Congrats to our #GreaterLiving Comp winner - @keishaahope
