Academies we support

Greater Bank has been supporting the Hunter Academy of Sport for more than two decades and looks forward to continuing its support of the netball program.

The Academy gives young athletes from across Newcastle and the wider Hunter Region the opportunity to receive training and tutelage of a world-class standard without the need for moving or travelling to a metropolitan centre.

The netball talent development program plays a vital role in the Netball NSW Athlete Pathway by identifying, monitoring and developing the skills of young netball players. The program will consist of on court skills training, fitness and athlete education, as per the Netball Australia Develop a Diamond program.

It provides a holistic approach to sport, knowing that an athlete is expected to do much more than just perform in their chosen field. Greater Bank is happy to support the program and our athletes with the necessary financial skills and assistance it takes to be an athlete.

The Central Coast Academy of Sport’s Greater Bank Netball Program provides 28 aspiring young athletes access to quality development opportunities.

The Academy takes netballers from across the region through Netball Australia’s Develop a Diamond Academy program, that provides individual skill development and a pathway for state and national team selection.

As well as developing elite athletes, the Academy program also focuses on educating and developing local coaches and umpires under the Netball NSW guidelines.

Our program draws on the best athletes from the three local netball associations and provides them with a higher level of training, as well as education in youth leadership. As a result, it is not only preparing these players for higher representative honours, but also making them well-rounded athletes and leaders both on and off the court.

Greater Bank’s commitment to supporting regional netball pathways extended to the Central West in 2019, announcing a three-year partnership with the Western Region Academy of Sport.

The program sits between local representative netball and higher order representation, such as the NSW state team. The high-performance coaching and training provides opportunities for athletes to develop their skill-base and assist them in progressing to these higher representative honours.

The WRAS Greater Bank Netball Program is endorsed by Netball NSW and provides talented netballers the opportunity to grow as netballers and people within the framework of Netball Australia’s Develop a Diamond program.

Led by head coach, Linda Macleod, the squad brings together 30 athletes from across the Central Western region of NSW, including Bathurst, Narromine, Mudgee, Parkes, Lidster, Dubbo and Forbes.
