Greater Bank has today announced it has re-signed as the Newcastle Jets’ major Community Partner until 2021.
The new agreement comes off the back of the Hunter-based community bank’s initial three-year partnership with the club that has seen the Jets rejuvenate their approach to community engagement throughout the Hunter and wider Northern New South Wales regions.
Jets’ CEO, Lawrie McKinna said that the club’s partnership with Greater Bank has helped deliver some integral community engagement initiatives.
“People see what happens on the pitch each week, but the club is involved in so much more and Greater Bank is an important part of everything we do in the community,” McKinna said.
“Over the past three years, our Jets:Connect program has delivered a wide range of community clinics and school visits that has reached more than 5,500 aspiring young footballers.”

McKinna added that programs such as ‘Decorate Your Gate’ had gone a long way to promoting the Jets brand right across the Hunter.
“The way local schools supported the club in Grand Final week was largely down to the work of Greater Bank – it was an amazing effort from all involved,” added McKinna.
“Greater Bank has helped drive our reinvigorated community focus and enabled us to put our club values into practice. To have them on board for another three years is great not only for the Jets, but also for the entire Hunter community.”
Greater Bank Head of Marketing and Customer Experience, Matt Hingston, reinforced the bank’s enthusiasm for the continuing partnership with the club and its shared community focus.
“At Greater Bank we are committed to supporting the communities that support us and our partnership with the Jets has seen us do some pretty amazing things together,” said Mr Hingston.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the Jets and extend the Jets:Connect program for a further 3 years, connecting the community with their A-League and W League heroes through school visits, football clinics, regional tours and other fun events.”
Jets:Connect was introduced through the Greater Bank partnership, born off the back of community and member feedback, and aims to re-establish the all-important ties between football at all levels and its fans.
Newcastle Jets also announced today the upcoming #JetsTour fuelled by Greater Bank. The tour takes place from 16 to 19 July, featuring two clinics at Forster and Port Macquarie, as well as a match against a regional select side on Tuesday 17 July at Port Macquarie Regional Stadium.
The Jets will be undertaking a second tour to the NSW south coast in September that will see the team host clinics and matches in the Illawarra area.
