How long have you been in the role?
I’ve worked in a number of finance roles over the past 16 years and in November 2018 took on this position as Branch Manager at Greater Bank’s Casino Branch.
What sets Greater Bank apart from the competition?
Our core values, as well as our focus on customers and the communities in which we operate, are what sets us apart from our major competitors.
As the branch manager, what are the key principles that you and your team live and work by every day?
Placing the needs of our customers at the centre of everything we do is fundamental to how we operate every day at the Casino branch. We have created a culture that is all about teamwork and growth, both individually and as a business. This ensures we give 100% to every customer that walks through our door.
What are the most challenging and rewarding parts of your role?
The banking and finance industry is always changing, particularly at the moment in the lending space, which means we need to ensure we are always up-to-date with the latest developments. This can be the biggest challenge. There are lots of rewarding parts of my job. Helping someone save for and then buy their first home is amazing but seeing my staff continually grow and develop the skills to help customers achieve what they need from their banking is probably the most rewarding.
What's your most memorable customer interaction at the Casino Branch and why?
I’ve had many great customer interactions here is Casino. One that stands out though was a young mum whose home loan application with one of the major banks was knocked back. During our first meeting I also had to say no, but that wasn’t the end of it. I worked with her and provided some guidance on what she could do to improve her financial position. She came back in a few months later armed with the information we provided, the loan was approved, and the home was hers soon after. The smile on her face was worth it.
How has your branch supported the local community?
We love to be involved in Beef Week and have sponsored the Butcher’s Breakfast, and over the years have decorated the branch in some pretty crazy ways. We also sponsor the local Casino Bulls Rugby Club and were lucky enough to be involved the re-opening of the Oaks Centre; a wonderful space for the local community to learn new skills and forge relationships.
What do you love about Casino and the local community?
I moved into the area around a year ago. I love the peace and quiet of the area, the rural aspect and the chilled nature of the place. Most of all though, I love the locals. You can walk down the street and everyone says ‘hi’. People know you by name, which can be rare these days. I love that I can help a mum and dad with an investment and the kids with the first home. I love that someone will call me and say that a mate of theirs gave them my number. The support for the local businesses is only something you see in a community such as Casino. And, we have the best beef and butchers in Australia!
