Greater support for the love of netball on the South Coast

Training Session Kiama NA.jpgWe love our netball at Greater Bank and have been supporting the sport in various forms for more than 30 years.

Through our sponsorship of elite pathways through Regional Academy programs as well as  18 grassroots associations, we are proud to play our role in getting more girls onto the court each season.

This year our support extends to the South Coast region partnering with Kiama and Shoalhaven netball associations.

Kiama Netball Association will play host to more than 800 players this season across six clubs, and according to Registrar, Michelle Gregory, all are looking forward to an uninterrupted season.

“The last two seasons have been challenging due to COVID and while we will continue to manage the competition week to week, we are hopeful there will be no shutdowns and we can continue through to September and run our final series,” Michelle said.

“We are incredibly thankful for the support of Greater Bank once again, which will enable us to pressure wash the courts to ensure they are in top shape for the players, as well as upgrade our timing and PA system.

“The sponsorship means we will be a little less reliant on fundraising and not have to put these costs back on the clubs.”

Shoalhaven Netball Association was equally appreciative of Greater Bank’s ongoing sponsorship, which will assist with their 2022 representative program.

Long-serving Association Administrator, Sue Mulley, said that a number of the families are doing it tough following the recent floods across Shoalhaven and St George’s Basin area.

“The cost to play representative netball is around $800 per person, which covers among other things the travel and accommodation to State Championship. For those who have been struggling of late, this could be a real burden,” Sue said.

“It’s why we are directing a fair proportion of Greater Bank’s sponsorship this year towards our representative program to ensure that players don’t have to withdraw due to cost.

“We’ll also be using the funds for the general running of the Association, which is a huge bonus for the committee.”

The Kiama competition got underway on 26 March, while the Shoalhaven netball season starts on Saturday 30 April with traditional march past taking place from 9am.
