Greater Bank rewards Dubbo branch with volunteer award

Greater Bank Dubbo Branch has been awarded a ‘Highly Commended Team Award’ for the outstanding dedication all its employees have shown towards supporting the local community as part of the 2019 Greater Charitable Foundation Employee Volunteer of the Year Award.

The announcement was made today as part of the awards, which recognise the significant contribution employees continually make to the community.

The awards coincide with the 30th annual National Volunteers Week held from 20 to 26 May; an annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our nation’s volunteers.

Over the past 12 months the Dubbo Branch team has been involved in many activities and events for three different charity groups and Greater Bank community partners, including skilled volunteering for Clontarf Foundation, as well as assisting at fundraisers and events for Western Region Academy of Sport and the South Dubbo Wanderers.

Cassie Reynolds, Dubbo Branch Manager, was thrilled to receive the news of her team’s success.

“Dubbo is a multi-cultural regional hub that just keeps growing. I love that I am a part of a great team that is truly focused on giving back to our local community and supporting the next generation who will grow up to continue to make Dubbo a rewarding place to live and work,” said Ms Reynolds.

“One particular area the team really enjoy getting involved in is our work with Greater Charitable Foundation partner, Clontarf Foundation, who aim to improve the education, discipline, life skills, self-esteem & employment prospects of young Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander men living in rural communities.

“Our staff, in particular MJ Smith and Felicity Petersen, regularly attend their training sessions and annual employment forums to provide both career advice and educate participants on managing their finances,” said Ms Reynolds.

To recognise the commitment Greater Bank employees have to giving back to others, the Greater Charitable Foundation introduced an Employee Volunteer Award in 2015.

More than 200 Greater Bank employees have volunteered with a Greater Charitable Foundation partner in the last 12 months alone, giving well in excess of 1,000 hours.

Greater Charitable Foundation Executive Officer, Anne Long, highlighted how proud she is to see the contribution Greater Bank employees are making to the communities in which it operates.

“Our charity partners rely heavily on the dedication of volunteers and we are lucky to have a network of Greater Bank employees who are ready and willing to give up their time to help fulfil this role and give back to those who need it most.” Ms Long said.

Vim Hawtin, Card Services Reconciliation/Assistant DR Officer based at Head Office and Amy Dodd, Raymond Terrace Branch Manager, were also named the joint individual winners of this year’s award for their extensive volunteering efforts.
