But what do you spend your money on?
And, how do you know if you have enough money to pay for the things you want to buy or the activities you like to do?
Why knowing the cost is important
Knowing the cost of different things is really important when you’re deciding how to spend your money or how much you might have to save if you want to buy something that’s more expensive.
Perhaps you have a toy, game or app you like.
- Which one do you think costs the most?
- Which one costs the least?
Have a guess and write down your answer. Then ask Mum or Dad to help you look up those items to see if you can find a price.

As you get older, you’ll begin to understand how much things cost and how much you might need to save to pay for more expensive things, like a phone or a laptop.
You’ll also know why Mum and Dad ask you to be careful when you’re using those kinds of things and not take them for granted 😊
