Thanks a Mil

We're celebrating our customers and local community for making our regions greater.

In the past 7 years, we've given away $1 million across 7 regions to over 770 organisations.

So ‘Thanks a mil’ to the hardworking volunteers who run the sports clubs, food pantries, and photography groups; to those who coach the teams, look after abandoned animals, and make the costumes for performances; and to those who raise money for the local school, to restore the community hall, or provide vital help to the elderly, the isolated and people battling illness.

How our Community Funding programs work

If you’re part of a group or organisation, no matter how big or small, that’s making a positive impact in your local community and could use some financial support, we want to hear from you. Here’s how to be part of the program.

Step 1 - Enter

We’ve made this process as simple as possible to ensure it’s easy for all to enter. Head to your region’s page below to see the info we need, complete the form, upload a photo and tell us in 100 words or less how your group is helping to improve the lives of locals. It’s as simple as that!

Each month we then select three organisations that are making a real difference to their community to take part in the public vote.

Step 2 - Vote

How do you choose between three organisations that are doing incredible things in their respective communities? It’s not easy, which is why we’ve put the power in the hands of the people. Our monthly winner is determined by an online vote where locals can decide where our funding should be allocated. You and your supporters can vote once per day, so make your voice heard!

Step 3 – Everyone’s a winner!

At the end of each monthly voting period, we'll announce our winner. In fact, everyone who is part of the Community Funding Program is a winner. We know that all nominees are doing amazing work in the community and deserve our support, which is why we allocate a cash prize to each of our first, second and third place getters.

Greater Central Coast

Greater Bank has been part of the Central Coast for more than 50 years, opening our first branch in the region in 1968. While we know this community is already great, the Community Funding Program is our way to help make it the Central Coast Greater!

Greater Central West

Droughts, floods and pandemics – the Central West has experienced it all in recent years. The Community Funding Program has supported many groups and organisations across Dubbo, Bathurst and Orange that have played a key role in supporting these communities through tough times.

Greater Gold Coast

Launched in February 2023, the Gold Coast is the latest addition to our Community Funding Program. We’re delighted to now extend our program into Queensland’s south-east and want to hear more about the many organisations, no matter how big or small, that are making the Gold Coast Greater!

Greater Illawarra

The Illawarra region is passionate about community support; something we have in common. Since 2018, the Community Funding Program has provided over $200,000 to support more than 180 groups. Together, we want to make these numbers grow.

Greater Mid North Coast

From Forster through to Coffs Harbour, the Community Funding Program has already supported around 100 organisations across the Mid North Coast since launching in 2020. It’s a beautiful coastal region that we’re helping the community make even greater.

Greater New England

It’s where it all began. Since launching our inaugural Community Funding program in Armidale in 2016, the program has expanded across the wider New England region, supporting more than 270 community organisations with over $450,000 in funding.

Few regions have experienced hardship in recent years than the NSW Northern Rivers. Since launching our Community Funding Program into the area in November 2021, we’ve helped many organisations that have played a role key in supporting he wonderful community.

$350,000 reached in New England!

Since 2016, we've been giving away funding every month to community groups nominated by the people of Armidale, Gunnedah and Tamworth. Why? Because, through making the organisations that mean something to locals greater, we can grow the communities we call home together.
