Dress for Success NSW & ACT

Dress For Success NSW & ACT has operated in NSW since 2009, offering long-lasting solutions to empower women to achieve financial independence and alleviate poverty, by providing a network of support, professional attire, and the development tools to help women thrive in work and life. Greater Charitable Foundation funding will enable Dress for Success to expand their services and reach in the Illawarra, Western Sydney, and Central Coast regions. This means they can deliver their innovative styling and career support programs in person to even more women who need their support.

Sadly, the statistics show there is a significant need for services to support women into employment in the Illawarra, Western Sydney, and Central Coast regions. The unemployment rate in these areas is higher than the average unemployment rate across NSW and the labour force participation rate of women is lower. Dress for Success aims to support women and female school-leavers to overcome bias and discrimination and re-enter the workforce with confidence, helping them to achieve a financially independent future.

First impressions are important, and a woman appropriately dressed for a work interview is more likely to feel confident, empowered, and able to create a positive impression. Dress for Success mobilises an extensive volunteer network to deliver programs and support women in their branches and at pop-ups, events and styling sessions. Greater Charitable Foundation is proud to support this important work which will create lasting change for women across the Illawarra, Newcastle, and Western Sydney.
