Finance Academy

The Finance Academy is a financial literacy program delivered to high school students across the Hunter and Central Coast.

Developed in partnership with the University of Newcastle, the program combines university-led theory with real-world insights from Greater Bank. It’s delivered by University of Newcastle student ambassadors and Greater Bank staff and is integrated into Year 9 and 10 curriculum subjects.

The program explores how financial attitudes are evolving and provides practical guidance on managing money – from saving and reducing debt to spotting scams and building financial confidence.

This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to supporting the community and empowering the next generation with the knowledge and skills to make informed financial decisions.

Greater Bank Finance Lab

Our partnership with the University of Newcastle has also established the Greater Bank Finance Lab – University Trading Room, located at the University’s city campus, NuSpace.

The lab is a dedicated teaching space equipped with 20 computers, providing a hands-on environment where students can explore financial markets, economic systems, and decision-making in real time.

It gives Newcastle Business School students the opportunity to develop practical skills in financial analysis, risk management, and economic modelling before they graduate.
