Greater Bank sponsorship boosts netball in Hastings Valley

With their season kicking off over the weekend, hundreds of netballers in the Manning and Hastings Valley had an extra pep in their step, with funding from Greater Bank set to subsidise registration fees to help more youngsters play the sport they love.

Following a strong 2024, which saw Hastings Valley Netball Association (HVNA) 14s and 17s win their NSW State Titles age groups in division 2, the association is keen to bring more participants into the game.

HVNA boasts over 2,000 members which the association continues to grow with its mixed and social competitions, as well direct efforts to retain younger players.

HVNA President Linda Dewbery said that they want to ensure the cost of participation was not a barrier for players.

“The Greater Bank sponsorship goes towards our representative teams to help offset the costs involved to travel to State Titles in June. For a brand-new Rep player, it can cost up to $1800 with uniforms, accommodation, travel, meals, additional netball clinics and training opportunities,” Linda said.

“This year we want to win more State Titles, increase participation and make netball financially appealing to everyone!”

Greater Bank Taree Branch Manager Robyn Melton said netball brings a touching display of community spirit to the cooler months.

“We are really proud to support the local netball associations that bring our community together for good,” Robyn said.

“It’s great to see people come together to cheer along their family and friends from the sidelines – it’s great to see our sense of spirit come to life!

“It’s going to be another fantastic season, and we hope everyone has a fun year.”
