Young children in Blayney will have more opportunities to play, with Blayney Playful Discoveries the most recent winner in the Greater Bank Central West Community Funding Program.
Blayney Playful Discoveries is a free playgroup that incorporates elements of sensory, messy and nature play, as well as music, movement and storytime activities for young children and their parents and carers, with the focus on fun and developing fine motor skills, creativity and confidence.
Blayney Playful Discoveries coordinator Tahlia Field formed the group after the town lost their longstanding playgroup and said the support will make a significant impact on the families in the region.
"This funding is an incredible boost and will have such a long-lasting effect and benefit on our organisation," Tahlia said.
"It can be quite isolating in a small town for parents and caregivers with young children so it's amazing that Blayney can once again offer playgroup programs to families at no cost. We want to create a space where families can come together to play, socialise and build connections in the local community.
"Greater Bank's support allows us to purchase some new imaginative play resources for the children including an outdoor art easel, soft play equipment, sensory play table and craft materials."
Greater Bank Regional Manager Greg Creagan said supporting Blayney Playful Discoveries aligns with Greater Bank’s commitment to building stronger communities.
"Blayney Playful Discoveries is designed to inspire curiosity, exploration and wonder in children through joyful play experiences," Greg said.
"This project shows the meaningful impact community-led initiatives can have, and we're proud to support it as part of the Greater Bank Central West Community Funding Program."
