Netballers score funding boost

Newcastle's Netball association shooting goal

Netballers from over a dozen associations will have more opportunities to step on the court this season thanks to renewed support from Greater Bank.

Newcastle Netball Association (NNA) and Hunter Netball are two of the associations which will receive sponsorship, supporting thousands of players from across the region.

Hunter Netball are set to use the funding to support their Nutrition & Wellbeing Program for their 2026 athletes, which Chair Jodi Cassar PSM said will make a significant impact.

"After a highly successful season last year where we showcased our talents on the state stage after being crowned the 2025 Metro League Division 5 Champions, we are excited for another fantastic season in 2026," Jodi said.

"We are really grateful to Greater Bank for their support, which allows us to provide funding towards our Nutrition & Wellbeing Program, that helps us to nurture the overall mental and physical health of our players."

NNA also had a strong 2025 season with approximately 4,000 members and held many inclusive competitions and programs including Mens and Boys Netball, Walking Netball, and an All-Abilities Program.

NNA President Leigh Whitehead said they plan to use the funding to help continue to grow the association across all competitions, age groups and genders.

"We are incredibly proud of everything we have achieved in recent years and pride ourselves on creating opportunities for everyone to be included and enjoy our great sport," Leigh said.

"We are incredibly thankful for the support from Greater Bank that helps our association enhance the experience for all players as well as further grow each of our competitions and programs."

Hunter Netball associations Greater Bank Home Lending Specialist Emma Dumbrill looked forward to supporting another year of netball across the region.

"Greater Bank are really proud to continue our support of 13 netball associations for the 2026 season and help them pave the way at bringing the local community together through inclusive sporting opportunities," Emma said.

"Netball is a sport where everyone is welcome to have a go, no matter the level and encourages fun, friendships, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle.

"We wish everyone the best of luck for the season ahead and see everyone back out on the court."
