Funding to help young people reach #Greater goals

Country Education Foundation Orange and District Branch have won $2,000 as part of our September Greater Central West Community Funding Round

An aspiring university student from the bush who needs a laptop, or an apprentice requiring new equipment, will be the key beneficiaries following the success of The Country Education Foundation Orange and District Branch in the latest round of Greater Bank’s #GreaterCentralWest Community Funding Program.

The Country Education Foundation Orange and District Branch has received $2,000 for winning the public vote in the September round, with monthly runners-up – Orange Aquatic Club and the Sydney International Piano Competition’s Bathurst program – receiving $500 each.

CEF Orange and District Branch Fundraising Officer, Judy Stump, said the not-for-profit organisation provides financial support for students in need.

This consists of small, non-cash grants of between $500 and $2000 to school leavers to assist them with training and education, often away from home,” Judy said.

Grants are in the form of reimbursement to cover fees, textbooks, tools of the trade, uniforms, laptops and other costs associated with training and study.

“To be eligible for the support, students must demonstrate financial need and a commitment to achieving their goals. They are also mentored and supported by the local group.

All funds to support this program are raised locally each year and used to support local kids to fulfil their dreams.

“This money from the #GreaterCentralWest Community Funding Program will make a material difference to the outlook for two or three students who would otherwise struggle to access these items or programs.”

Greater Bank’s Central West Regional Sales Manager, Will Boyd, said all kids deserve the chance to get a great education.

“Education is a key determinant of future wellbeing and success, so removing financial barriers can make a big difference for people,” Will said.

“Supporting students in need can help them to fulfil their potential, leading to more satisfying and reward careers, so we are very pleased to be able to make a contribution.”

Another $3,000 is up for grabs in the October round of the #GreaterCentralWest Community Funding Program and our nominees are:  Friends of the Bathurst War Memorial Carillon, LiveBetter Community Services (Dubbo) and the Animal Welfare League - Orange branch.

The online public vote is now open at greater.com.au/greatercentralwest until 5.00pm Wednesday October 26, 2022.
