#GreaterCentralWest reaches funding milestone

Supporting the people that support us provides the foundations for Greater Bank’s #GreaterCentralWest Community Funding Program, which has now reached a significant milestone of giving.

Since its establishment in August 2021, the program has now contributed more than $50,000 in funding that has been shared among 50 community groups across the Central West; a region that has been an important part of Greater Bank’s footprint since 1998.

To say that we are proud of this support would be an understatement.

The Community Funding Program, which is now rolled out across seven regional NSW areas, is the cornerstone of Greater Bank’s support of the communities in which we operate and is aimed at supporting those organisations that work every day to make their community even greater.

Greater Bank Regional Manager, Greg Creagan, said the #GreaterCentralWest program has been rolled out in what has been a critical period for the region.

“In the less than two years that the program has been running, people of the Central West have endured a pandemic, drought and flooding. While the impacts across the community have been widespread, the majority of organisations that rely heavily on community support lost their ability to fundraise,” Greg said.

“So many of the organisations we supported, particularly during the first 12 months used the funding to simply keep their doors open and continue to support their communities during was what a critical period.

“The program has not only opened our eyes to, but also enabled us to connect with and support so many amazing community groups across the Central West that are run by passionate and dedicated people who work hard to support their communities.

“It’s opened our eyes to the many amazing groups in our communities that provide very specific support. So often they go unnoticed outside of those people they directly support, which makes it difficult for them to get any sort of financial support.

“Each and every one of the winners and runners up have expressed great appreciation for this support.”

The #GreaterCentralWest program’s latest winner Central West Riders SMC’s will use their funding to assist Orana Support Service in providing homeless and vulnerable people with access to a van with showering and washing facilities.

Central West Riders SMC Co-Founder and President, Darrel Harvey, said the not-for-profit social motorbike club raises money for charities, families and individuals.

“We try to have three or four charity rides and events each year, and also support other charity events in the local area,” Darrel said.

Last month, we held a Mystery Ride and Bike Show to raise money for Orana Support Service for their ‘Highways for the Homeless’ effort to fund a van with a washer/dryer and bathroom facilities to be used by the homeless community in the Dubbo area.

“These vans are very effective and a much-needed facility that are used in many locations around Australia, so this money from Greater Bank will be going straight towards that extremely worthy cause.”
