Trailer upgrade the plan for Greater funding

Upgrading the club trailer is high on the agenda for Run Port Mac following its success in Greater Bank’s #GreaterMidNorthCoast Community Funding Program.

Run Port Mac has won $2,000 for topping the vote count in the March round, with Urunga Sail Training Club and Taree Rescue Squad – VRA each receiving $500 as the monthly runners-up.

Run Port Mac is a grassroots, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the local community by getting people moving and socialising on a regular basis.

Run Port Mac President, Clifford Hoeft, said the benefits of regular movement are well documented, which is why they encourage people to make physical activity and positive social interaction part of their daily life.

“Our motto is ‘Every run for Everyone’, so we aim to remove barriers to participation by providing a safe, friendly and welcoming environment that embraces diversity, inclusion and all abilities.

“As well as holding free running and walking community events, we also volunteer at other events to ensure participants get the most out of it.

“This cash injection from Greater Bank will help us to upgrade the trailer we use to transport our gazebos, tables and other equipment between these events. At the moment it’s uncovered, which means it’s no good in wet weather, so we’re going to an all-weather cover to protect our gear from the elements.”

Greater Bank’s Mid North Coast Regional Sales Manager, Jennifer Smith, said combining physical and social activities is a great way to keep people healthy.

“Exercise and spending time with other people are vital to people’s broader wellbeing, so doing both at the same time delivers a double benefit,” Jennifer said.

“Programs such as the one conducted by Run Port Mac play such an important role in getting the community up and active, which is why I’m delighted to support them through our Community Funding Program.”

The April round of the #GreaterMidNorthCoast Community Funding Program has a further $3,000 on offer and our monthly nominees are Solitary Islands Underwater Research Group (SURG), Port Macquarie Parkinson's Support Group and Forster Aquatic Swimming Club.

Public voting is now open at www.greater.com.au/greatermidnorthcoast until 5.00pm Wednesday 26 April, 2023.
