Meet Carrie

As a program Ambassador, Carrie will be visiting high schools in Bathurst and the Central West region to use her real-life banking experience to deliver practical and relevant content around money management, savings strategies and how to make informed financial decisions. Carrie explains why she got involved and what she’s enjoying most about being part of the program.
What prompted you to become a Finance Academy Ambassador?

I love anything to do with budgeting and I love helping and educating people.

Budgeting + helping people + educating = Financial Academy Ambassador!

Why is financial literacy important to you?

I feel everyone needs to be given the opportunities in life to help them reach their financial goals to feel more secure. So financial literacy is important to help them to be able to achieve anything they put their minds to.

What was your financial literacy ‘ah-ha’ moment?

It was when I had my own children and they would spend their money as soon as they had it in their 'hot little hands'. I wanted to be able to teach them the importance of saving for the future, a skill my parents taught me.

What are you looking forward to most in delivering the program?

I am looking forward to teaching the students something useful and helpful, and relating it to their life as I can give examples of my own children 21 and 14.
