Get money savvy with Financial Literacy Program
Financial literacy is an important life skill that all children need to learn, which is why we’ve partnered with the University of Newcastle to present the Greater Bank Finance Academy.
Educating young people in financial literacy so that they have the skills to set their futures up and buy their dream car, their first house or even a big holiday is what I love most about my job. This program is the perfect way to start them on the right path with their finances, so that they can build a brighter future.
I am looking forward to passing on my knowledge to the younger generation. I know this program has the potential to change someone’s future, which is why it’s so exciting to me.
I strongly believe that having control over your finances is so important, especially as a young adult entering the next stage of their life. As a lender, I am aware of how important it is to educate people on how to look after your credit report, keeping your accounts in good conduct, and learning how to budget and save.
Going through a loan application with a young person, I often find I am teaching them financial literacy along the way. It’s always a disappointing conversation to have with someone when they are not ready to take out their first loan. By educating high school students now, it gives them a better chance to be ready in the future.

Clontarf Foundation’s Newcastle High Academy program is working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to ensure they are equipped with key educational and life skills.
High school students across Newcastle will benefit from a short-course focused on informed financial-decision making, thanks to the Fundamentals of Financial Literacy Program.
