2023 Tri Series to get underway with Greater support

On the eve of the 2023 season, Greater Bank has announced their continued support of Newcastle Netball Association, again putting their name to the Greater Bank NNA Tri Series.

Greater Bank’s support of Newcastle Netball Association now spans more than two decades, with this year’s naming rights sponsorship playing a pivotal role in player and pathway development.

Newcastle Netball Association President, Cheryl Hernando, commended Greater Bank for its ongoing support of netball in not only Newcastle, but also the Hunter.

The depth of talent across the Greater Bank NNA Tri Series continues to improve, with the 2023 season seeing eight very competitive clubs taking part in the Championship, Open and U23 competitions," Cheryl said.

Additionally, within these clubs we have 21 players also lining up in in the Sydney-based Premier League Competition, while two of our umpires also travel to Sydney each week to officiate in the premier competition. We also recently had seven members take part in the Australian Titles.

This not only demonstrates the quality of talent we have here in Newcastle, but also the success of our pathways that have been created with the support of of Greater Bank.”

Newcastle is one of 20 netball associations we support across our area of operation, while our commitment to the sport also extent to supporting regional pathways through the sponsorship of the Hunter, Central Coast and Western Region Academies of Sport," Emma said.

The Greater Bank NNA Tri-Series was established in 2020, whereby points are awarded to teams across all three grades based on their regular season results. South Newcastle go into the 2023 season as two-time winners and defending Greater Bank NNA Tri-Series champions.

Also lining up in this year’s competition are BNC Netball Club, The Junction Netball Club, Kotara Netball Club, Nova Netball Club, University Netball, Waratah Netball Club and Wests Leagues Netball Club.

Round one of the competition will get underway at National Park this Saturday with Wests Leagues Balance starting their title defence against University (Court 6), Junction Stella up against Waratah Cats (Court 7), Kotara South Tigers taking on BNC Whanau QWH (Court 8), while Nova Thunder start their season against last year’s grand finalists, Souths Lions (Court 9). All games get underway at 2.30pm.
