Greater funding provides new facilities for Pacific Pines footballers

New fencing behind the goalposts and a new marquee are on the top of Pacific Pines Junior Australian Rules Football Club’s wish list, following its success in Greater Bank’s #GreaterGoldCoast Community Funding Program.

Winning the public vote in the program’s May round has earned Pacific Pines Junior Australian Rules Football Club $2,000, with monthly runners up, Twin Towns Kindergarten and Radio Lollipop Gold Coast each take away $500.

Pacific Pines Junior Australian Rules Football Club Secretary, Kristal Churchill, said the club has grown considerably since its establishment in 2005.

“We started with three junior teams and have grown to almost 20 teams, with around 250 junior members across both female and male teams,” Kristal said.

“Our juniors range from Under 6's to Under 17's and we also have Senior Teams for both male and female players.

“The paling fence behind the goals cops a hammering, so we’re looking to replace that with a metal fence that should last a lot longer.

“We also have our eye on a new marquee, while a new PA system that includes a siren and microphone is a longer-term goal to help us with our game day operations and presentations.

“Thanks to the Greater Bank for the opportunity to take part in this fantastic program – we’re absolutely delighted to receive this money!”

Greater Bank’s Gold Coast Regional Sales Manager, Scott McCluskey, said the Gold Coast community has really embraced the program.

“We initiated the #GreaterGoldCoast Community Funding Program just a few months ago, after successfully running it in other regions for a number of years,” Scott said.

“Now that we’re able to help community groups on the Gold Coast, the locals have embraced the program, as evidenced by two organisations receiving more than 15,000 votes each in the May round.

“Fundraising is always a challenge for sporting groups such as Pacific Pines Junior Australian Rules Football Club, so it’s great to see how a funding boost like this can help fund club facilities that are often left on the ‘nice to have’ list while other areas of the club are prioritised.

“We Look forward to providing more support like this in the coming months through the #GreaterGoldCoast program.”

The June round of the program has a further $3,000 to be shared among our nominees, who this month are Gold Coast Hospital Foundation, Journey 2 Learn and Southport Gymnastics Club.

The public can vote online at from 9.00am Monday 5 June until 5.00pm Wednesday 28 June, 2023.
