The drought that is ravaging much of NSW continues to be one of the worst on record. Regional and remote communities are doing it tougher than ever, with little respite or relief in sight.
Like most of us, Greater Bank employee, Bernadette Rennie, has seen the devastation across our network and, not surprisingly, decided to roll up her sleeves and help those in need.
The former Greater Bank ‘Volunteer of the Year’ received a request for donations for ‘The Little Juddies Christmas Drought Run’ and took up the cause for them.
In the past three years, The Little Juddies, led by husband and wife team of Mick and Bianca Judd, and have trucked more than 200 tonnes of food and supplies from the Hunter to drought-affected areas in NSW and Queensland.
During November, Bern put a call out to staff from across the Newcastle, Maitland and Central Coast to donate gift and EFTPOS cards, as well as brand new kids’ toys and gifts to ensure kids don’t miss out this Christmas.
Bern had the pleasure of delivering the hampers to Bianca and Mick, which were part of the semi-trailer load of food, supplies, toys and Christmas presents that were delivered to North-West NSW townships of Baradine and Bingara in time for Christmas to provide some relief to more than 270 families doing it tough.
