Greater funding to provide a brighter Christmas for rural kids

Doin’ It For Rural Aussie Kids’ target of providing 1,000 Christmas gifts for 1,000 rural kids is a step closer following its success in the #GreaterCentralWest Community Funding Program.

Doin’ It For Rural Aussie Kids (DIFRAK) has received $2,000 after winning the public vote in the November round of the funding program, with Pinnacle Physical Culture Club and Orange CYMS Netball Club each receiving $500 as the monthly runners-up.

DIFRAK Founder, Jason Owen, said every kid deserves a gift this Christmas.

“For some families Christmas is simply not on the agenda, but the simple act of giving Santa Sacks can change everything and give the family a day to remember,” Jason said.

“Over the past three Christmas’s DIFRAK has reached over 1600 children and families and we’re aiming even higher this Christmas, with our goal of delivering 1,000 presents across the Central West.

“We are also passionate advocates for youth mental health and take our small schools program to as many rural and isolated children as possible – providing motivation and inspiring kids to believe that anything is possible if you follow your dreams.

“Especially with many people in western New South Wales battling floods, this contribution from Greater Bank is very welcome indeed and will hopefully put a smile on the kids’ faces come Christmas.”

Greater Bank’s Central West Regional Sales Manager, Will Boyd, said many people in the region are doing it tough.

“The challenges have just kept coming over the past few years, going from bushfires into COVID and widespread flooding,” Will said.

“It’s in our DNA to support the communities that support us, so we are pleased to be able to make this contribution towards DIFRAK’s Christmas gift drive.”

Since launching in August 2021, the #GreaterCenrtalWest Community Funding Program has allocated $48,000 across 48 community organisations from the Bathurst, Orange and Dubbo regions.

The Program will continue to be rolled out in 2023. Click here to find out more about more about becoming involved.
