Tamworth Swans Netball Club have capped off an incredible first season by taking out the August round of the #GreaterNewEngland community funding program.
For winning this month’s community vote, the fledgling netball club have received a financial boost of $3,000 that will go towards buying new training equipment, uniforms and covering their ongoing operational costs.
The club was formed this season as part of the Tamworth Swans AFL Club and entered three teams – an A Grade team and two B Grade teams. Their aim is to encourage members to be active, confident and have fun through netball.
According to Tamworth Swans Netball Club Co-ordinator, Hannah McKenzie, winning the #GreaterNewEngland funding is a welcome boost for the newly formed club.
“As a new netball club, we currently only have basic playing equipment so our plan is to use the winning funds to buy more training resources, as well as contribute to new uniforms and bibs for the 2021 season.
“It’s been an exciting year for the Swans and winning the #GreaterNewEngland August community funding round has been the icing on the cake. The extra funds will make such a difference to what we can offer our players and means we can make next year even bigger and better,” she said.
Also sharing in this month’s funding was Tamworth BJP Physie Club and Gunnedah & District Pony Club Canteen who both received $1,000 to put towards their operational costs.
Greater Bank’s Regional Manager, Jennifer Smith, said it was wonderful to see the #GreaterNewEngland funding program provide invaluable support to a local sporting organisation.
“The monthly funding allocation offered through the #GreaterNewEngland program can have such a positive impact on community groups, particularly smaller ones such as Tamworth Swans Netball Club who are only just starting out,” said Ms Smith.
“We’re thrilled to be able to provide this contribution, with the help of the voting community, and see the difference it will make to the club and its players.”
The August round of the #GreaterNewEngland program is now open and will close at 5pm on Wednesday, 30 September 2020 with Gomeroi Maliyan-Go Football Club, PCYC Tamworth - Fit for Life Police Program and Gunnedah & District Spinners and Weavers all vying for a share in the $3000 funding.
