Funding windfall a huge boost for Gunnedah RSPCA

Gunnedah RSPCA is a volunteer organisation that has long relied on the community’s generosity to support the vital role it plays in fostering and rehoming animals in need.

With fundraising efforts becoming increasingly tougher, the group received a welcome financial boost this week after taking out the January round of Greater Bank’s #GreaterNewEngland community funding program.

For winning the public vote, Gunnedah RSPCA will receive $3000 that will immediately support their services.

Gunnedah RSPCA President, Linda Taylor, could not hide her elation on receiving news of the funding windfall.

We are absolutely thrilled to receive this funding. You would not believe how big an impact this $3000 will have on our operations,” Linda said.

So much of our time and effort goes into fundraising through activities such as raffles, market stalls and garages sales, which relies heavily on the local community to support.

“This funding from Greater Bank equates to at least a couple of months fundraising, which will go straight back into helping the animals.

Vet bills is our biggest expense so half of the funding will immediately go toward that. What is exciting though is that the other half will be used to refurbish our kennels for larger dogs or dogs that have a litter.

“That is one of those projects we’ve wanted to do for a while but haven’t been able to prioritise funding to make it happen.
